Updates to the IEC 60335-2-98 Humidifier Standard
Recently, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released the 3rd edition of the humidifier standard, IEC 60335-2-98:2023. The new version of the standard addresses various types of hazards that may arise during the normal use of electrical appliances, including risks associated with electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire, and harmful substances. Here are the main changes in the new standard:

| Major technical regulation changes: 1. A humidifier that meets the relevant conditions specified in the standard and can be shaped or decorated like a toy (see CL22.44, CL22.105) is added. 2. For humidifiers shaped or decorated like toys, increase the requirements for functional component drop tests, instruction manual warning requirements, and clarify the button battery or R1 battery requirements that can not be touched without tools. 3. For the size specifications of the drainage holes set in order to meet the requirements of the standard, if they do not meet the requirements, it is regarded as blocked. | ||
